Job Opening Summary

Position: Coating Technician
Department: Coating
Reports to: Thin Film Supervisor

General Responsibilities Outline

  • Loads and operates vacuum coating chambers and related equipment
  • Applies thin film coatings to optical components using vacuum deposition process
  • Monitors vacuum deposition process according to process instructions
  • Performs routine and periodic maintenance on coating chambers
  • Operates equipment necessary to verify performance of coating runs
  • Checks coating result with desired specifications
  • Maintains efficient logs and records as required
  • Performs vacuum chamber troubleshooting as required
  • Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in a science field, or two years related education or experience
  • Knowledge of electrical connection/disconnection and troubleshooting
  • Understanding of schematics, drawings using various test equipment, and math calculating to confirm design setup
  • Preferred experience in systems maintenance
  • Mechanical and technical ability
